24 weeks appointment

Today I went for my 24 week appointment. It was an appointment that I've been dying to have since the last time I actually spoke with a doctor was at my 16 week appointment. At the appointment I was told that I have to slack off on ALL of my responsibilities and rest whenever I possibly can~ I'm not sure how that is going to go since I like to have things done my way!

The appointment also consisted of me being "checked" and was found that I am not dialating yet but am 40-50% effaced which he said was normal with twins. My tummy was measured and at 24 weeks I am measuring 32 weeks if I were only having 1 baby! Both babies are head down right now from what he can tell from feeling outside my tummy. I about cried when I got on the scale and saw that I had gained 5 pounds in 2 weeks but the nurse told me that is excellent for twins at this point in the pregnancy!

I'll have my next appointment at 27 weeks, on the 14th of April, and then will have another ultrasound at 28 weeks, on the 21st of April. I can't wait to see the babies again and to see how much they have grown. It is crazy for me to think that they could come within the next 11-14 weeks! Time is flying fast!

Pregnancy Pictures...

So I thought that many of you would like to see a pregnancy comparison.

This is me when I was pregnant with Kaylin at 17 weeks! I thought then that I was pretty big, but then I got pregnant with twins....

And this is me at 19 weeks with the twins!

These were the 2 pictures that were close enough in weeks to compare!

No wonder that the maternity jeans I had with Kaylin do NOT fit any more and that the tops are no where near big enough to cover this ever growing stomach! This weekend, I went to Motherhood Maternity and bought me 3 new shirts that I'm sure are only going to get tight and snug on me! I'm very grateful to my sister who let me borrow her Maternity Jeans and skirts so that I have something to wear!

The last few days...

For the last couple of days I have had some pretty good pressure and some even better braxton hicks contractions. Today rather than persevere, I chose to call the doctor, praying that everything would be okay. They immediately sent me to labor and delivery to be monitored, because you never know with twins what could be happening! I arrived at the hospital just before 11 and they put all the contraptions to monitor only to find that the twins were moving too much to get a good reading so we had to have an ultrasound done. The ultrasound revealed that Evan (the baby on bottom) had done a complete flip since the last ultrasound and was in the cannon ball position with his little head in my pelvic area. Ashlyn hadn't really moved a whole lot just kind of down a little so that Evan could have some space.

Long story short, everything checked out good. Cervix is still completely closed; No infections; and No coming home on bed rest! I was however told that I needed to drink more. I already feel like I am drinking constantly, but if that means NO pain or pressure then I'll drink another glass of water or more every day! I've got to do whatever is necessary to keep these babies in for 12 more weeks at least!

Counting Down...

I have been secretly counting down the weeks until the twins could make their appearances! The doctors told us that they would try to stop labor any time before week 35. After week 35 then they would let them come... so from today I have 13 weeks until that date June 11th and then the longest they would let me go is 38 weeks which would be July 2nd or 16 weeks! I can't believe that in less than 4 months I will have two cute little babies! I've got to get busy getting things ready for these babies... clothes, diapers, wipes, another crib and bumper pads... and the list goes on! But really it is a pretty short list!

Kaylin and Daddy Playtime

This morning I found some super cute pictures of Kaylin playing in her tent, that I did not take since I've been so sick the last few days. Pretty much every night I hear Ryan and Kaylin playing downstairs as I am laying in bed wishing I could just feel good enough to stay downstairs and play too!
I am so grateful for Ryan and all his help with Kaylin! I can't imagine how neglected Kaylin would feel if I were her only parent around (at least while I am sick)! Ryan really is the BEST dad in the whole world. He works hard for our family and then comes home and takes care of our child and the cooking of dinner if I'm not feeling the best. Kaylin will NOT let me give her a bath or a shower any more because daddy just does it better. Kaylin has also learned the ask daddy trick. If I tell her NO for something then she says, "Ask Daddy when he gets home?" and the stinker doesn't forget... when he calls on his way home she asks him for everything she has wanted all day and I've said No maybe later.
Thank you Ryan for all you do for our Family! You really are the BEST Dad!

Nothing is worse than...

Having a COLD

and the FLU

when you are pregnant and already can't breath or sleep through the night! I am praying really hard that the Sudafed I took continues to work, because the Tylenol Cold and Flu I took earlier today made me sicker than I already was!! Also... since I have to teach Relief Society tomorrow it would be really nice if I could make it through the lesson without having to blow my nose 1000 times or be so dizzy standing up that I can't think straight!

Kaylin's First Haircut

Kaylin had her first haircut on Saturday. I took my mom's camera because I forgot mine. We got there and Kaylin refused to sit in the chair all by herself so I didn't get a picture of her first haircut because I had to hold her through the whole thing! We just trimmed up all the ends and gave her some bangs (which Ryan says he doesn't really like... so we'll be growing those out again)! Her haircut really made her look more grown-up than she already does!
