Evan and Ashlyn's Room

Tonight I finally got everything hung up and put away in the twins room!

When we found out we were having twins I really hoped that we would be able to get both cribs in the smaller room since I had just finished painting the bigger room pink for Kaylin! Thankfully 2 cribs works in there with a little extra room to spare.

Ashlyn's letters needed to be white since she would be sharing a room with Kaylin when she out-grows the nursery...

And since Evan will stay in the OU room he got to have red letters!
I really LOVE this room and am so glad that it turned out so well!
Thanks to my mom who made another set of bumper pads for the 2nd crib, and thanks again to our friend, Mike, who painted the OU on the wall!

Swimming

Kaylin saw a picture in her scrapbook of her swimming at Grammy's house and she told me that we needed to get her swim suit on and go to grammy's to swim. I let her know that we could put her swim suit on but we couldn't go to grammy's! We went out drug the hose to the backyard and she immediately got in the pool. Although she would never sit down but she had a GREAT time with the hose and splashing. After about 15 minutes we had to go inside to make dinner but after dinner Dad took her outside. She slipped and got her swimsuit wet and said she wanted to take it off before Ryan knew it she looked like this...

...and was much more content to play in her pool!
We've since taught her that it is okay to get her swimsuit wet and play in the water!

A Kaylin Post

With the Twins being born I haven't really taken the time to "brag" about my precious little Kaylin and as I was looking at my blog not once in the last 5 weeks did I post something dedicated only to Kaylin!
Kaylin is such a happy little girl!
We love having her in our family.
One day while we had family over, Auntie Em put make up on Kaylin and then had a mini photo shoot! Kaylin had so much fun wearing the make-up. She is definately a girly girl all the way!

Kaylin has learned so many new things the past few months:
~ She knows how to sing Families can be Together Forever, I love to see the Temple, and I am a Child of God. (every word)~
~She is a WONDERFUL helper: her favorite is to shake the bottles~
~ Kaylin also loves playing with her toys, watching movies and of course still watches Dora, in fact when it is bedtime she says, "Watch one more Dora"~

Love you...

I LOVE these 4 very much and am so glad that they are a part of our family!

Twins First Photo Shoot

Getting pictures of one newborn is already pretty difficult but getting two babies to cooperate is even worse!
If only you could crop out the paci's! We would be set with a TON of really good pictures!

When we did get a picture without their paci they were fighting or playing whichever way you want to look at it!

We did get a lot of really good ones too! Several for me to choose between for Birth Announcements and Blog posts!

I LOVE how big my kids eyes are and that we were able to get several pictures of them with their eyes open!

I just had to have a picture of all 4 feet since we have an ultrasound picture with all 4 feet in as well!

I absolutely love these two additions to our family!
Thanks Val for capturing them for us via pictures! You always do a GREAT job and we really appreciate having you take pictures for us!

Going for a Walk...

One of our favorite family activites is to go on a walk each night after dinner if the weather is nice. And since we have a really nice stroller we better use it! On their first walk in the stroller, Evan stayed awake the whole time and just enjoyed the ride.
Ashlyn fell asleep a few minutes into the ride!

I LOVE the stroller since we can use both of their carseats (different brands) and they latch on just perfectly to the frame of the stroller. We will need to buy a new stroller when they get older, but this one is PERFECT for now!

And it is really easy to push!
(Unless Kaylin thinks she needs to push too! LOL!)
Since we go on a walk EVERY day sometimes twice a day, I'm hoping that my stretched out tummy will shrink even more and I'll be able to be back in my jeans in no time!

Follow up Doctor Appointment

Today, was the twins follow-up doctor appointment since they have been home nearly a week!
Both have grown a LOT!
Evan now weighs 7 pounds 1 ounce and is 20 inches long
Ashlyn now weighs 6 pounds 6 ounces and is 19 1/2 inches long!
Even though the NICU was incredibly difficult, it was the BEST training for my babies! My mom even said last week that she thinks every baby should have to spend a week in the NICU so they can recieve the same training! Some things we've grown to appreciate this week are:
1. The 3 hour feeding schedule that the twins were on for 3 weeks is WONDERFUL since they still pretty much follow it at home, now though they can go 4 hours and at night they get to almost 5 hours!
2. Both babies can be placed in their bed AWAKE and they WILL go to sleep without crying!
(We like this one in the middle of the night because we are only up about 40 minutes total)
3. Both babies wake up within minutes of each other day and night! Which makes for shorter times awake at night, but a little more stress during the day!
4. I have not had to tell Kaylin... "shh... the babies are sleeping" because they are used to lots of noise around them.
I am so grateful for my children and the challenges that we have gone through for them! I can't wait to see how they grow and develop and to see their little personalities shine through! I know that things are going to be tough, but...
IT IS DEFINATELY WORTH IT!

We are HOME

On Thursday, July 1st we were FINALLY able to bring the twins home from the hospital.
Kaylin was so excited to see us and the babies... it was NO problem getting her to pose for a picture because she wanted to be close to them almost all the time!

Kaylin especially loves holding the babies (above is Ashlyn)

And smothering them with kisses and hugs (above is Evan)!

We have been very blessed to have Nana and Papa here for a couple of weeks taking care of the house and Kaylin while Ryan and I were at the Hospital. We were so glad that the Twins came home BEFORE Nana and Papa had to leave to get back to Oklahoma! They ended up leaving about 3 hours after we all got home and we were really sad to see them go!

Having 2 babies at home can be quite challenging especially at feeding times. Until I am left alone this is how you will see me and whoever the other adult is that is there every 3-4 hours!

After their first feeding at home, we put them in Ashlyn's crib for their nap!
I am so happy that Evan and Ashlyn are home. They are the BEST babies! They pretty much only cry when we are changing their diapers and when they are hungry. The NICU really trained them to be on a schedule. Day and Night both babies wake up within minutes of each other every 3-4 hours and at Night they've gone 5 hours! The 3 nights that they have been home so far has been really nice... they wake up around 1 or 2 am and then again around 6am and each time they are only up for about 45 minutes! I hope that by me saying this I am not cursing myself because I've been blessed with a GREAT pair of babies! We love them very much and are so glad that they are a part of our family!
