Game Day Finally Arrives

The day we have been looking forward to since January has finally arrived! We were so excited to see how Kaylin would react to football outside of my tummy! Last year she would kick the entire game... this year... NO NAPS all day and lots of kicking and playing! We even dressed her in a OU cheerleader outfit (the pictures will not post... I will post them later when they will post)! OU ended up winning their game 57-2!!!

I was never able to get the pictures to post here. If you want to see them visit our picasa web site! http://picasaweb.google.com/sisbobbie

Kaylin sits up...

I realize that this video is only about 30 seconds, but I couldn't believe that Kaylin finally sat up by herself for this long. She has been trying for so long and finally mastered the skill (well sort of) we will continue to practice so that I don't have to be nearby to have her just sit on the floor and play! I am still amazed at how much a baby learns in the first few months of life.

This past weekend...

This past weekend was spent being pretty much lazy! Saturday we celebrated that Kaylin is 7 months old now, and went out to dinner with our friends. Sunday we had a modeling show of my cousin's wedding dress and 2 of her bridesmaid's dresses!!! They were so cute! NOW we are looking forward to this weekend... COLLEGE FOOTBALL FINALLY STARTS!!!

A week full of fun...

Kaylin has been busily learning to do several things. She has dropped her late afternoon nap so now she only takes a morning nap and an afternoon nap. One of the naps is usually 2 hours or longer and the other is at least an hour. It has been nice having her up playing, but has been more nice that she sleeps longer at night. She still wakes up one time either around mid-night or not until 4 or 5 in the morning. I hope that over time she will start sleeping a little bit longer at night and not need to get up.

Also this week, Kaylin has finally learned how to roll from her back to her front! In her crib she hates this because she always gets stuck on her tummy and she HATES that! When playing on the floor, she rolls all over the place. But when she wants to get somewhere, she still lifts up her bottom while on her back and slides her body where she wants it to be. When she is on her tummy, she tries so hard to scoot forward but hasn't quite got it figured out.

This week Kaylin has also tried to sit un-supported longer. She does pretty good if she knows that I am close by... (ie. she can see my leg next to her)! I don't think it will be too long before she masters this skill either.

Cousin's Sleepover... August 15-16, 2008

As many of you know each year in August (always the 3rd weekend) we have our annual "Cousin's Sleepover" We usually have around 50-60 people there all having a massive sleepover. This year was no exception, and was packed full of fun. On Friday night, we all meet at my mom's then go to the parade in Oak City... it's Oak City Days weekend too! Then we eat dinner (deli sandwiches on mom's rolls, dad's dutch oven potatoes, potluck salads, and desserts made by my mom). After dinner we start preparing for the sleeping part... air matresses, sleeping bags, pillows and blankets all fill the yard.

Pictures are taken to remind us of all the fun... and to be used on our birthday calendar. Above is a picture of Kaylin with Dylan. He is my cousin Heather's baby who is a month older than Kaylin. Last year we were pregnant together so we made sure we got pictures of our cute babies!!

"Auntie Sarah" loves Kaylin and Kaylin loves her. Sarah is my cousin... but to Kaylin we call her Auntie because she is like an aunt.

Saturday morning after breakfast(pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, juice and milk) we pull out the crafts. This year we made Magnetic boards. They are so cute, and were so fun to make. We also made soap bottles with a saying and glitter inside, and some of us traded quilt blocks to make a turning twenty quilt. I will post at a later date when I get all of my squares collected and sewed together!

After a morning of fun at my mom's house we then go up to the park for the traditional lunch (open pit cooked beef, pork, potatoes, corn on the cob; fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and rolls and a cupcake)! Then we walk around looking at craft booths, visiting with friends, and when it's not too hot we stick around for the games. Kaylin isn't quite old enough for the games this year so we didn't stick around for them... but next year we plan on letting her PLAY!!!

By the time night comes around everyone has left and it is just a quiet evening at my parents house. We spent it watching the Olympics, Visiting and eating whatever we wanted (this time pizza for dinner at 9pm)!!! It was a great weekend full of fun... kind of symbolizes the end of summer for me. I can't believe that summer is almost over and that fall is quickly approaching us!!

Diapers...

So this weekend we ran out of our "Huggies" diapers so we bought a package of "Pamper's" because Walmart didn't have any Huggies! Kaylin had worn pampers before the huggies case so I didn't think too much of switching diaper brands on her. Sunday morning she woke up in a pampers diaper with one of the worst diaper rashes I have ever seen. I felt so bad for her! I put diaper cream on and did all I could to help her... or so I thought. I then called my mom and she told me that maybe Kaylin was allergic to the diapers. I immediately went to walmart and bought a package of huggies. Yesterday, Monday in a huggies diaper her rash was gone! Who would have thought that Kaylin would be so sensitive to pampers. NO more for us!!! I don't want her to go through that rash again!

Jumping in the Exersauser...

Kaylin absolutely loves her exersaucer! She plays in it at least 4 times a day for about 30 minutes or more. She has figured out how to spin around, make all of the toys work with sounds and all. This past week she has started jumping in it whenever I look at her. She is pretty crazy in it. It is definately worth our money because she loves it so much!!! I have tried to get a video of her jumping in it, but whenever I bring out the camera she stops jumping.

Lagoon Trip

Yesterday we went to Lagoon with most of my family! Kaylin could only ride on the Merry-Go-Round and the Train. Our very first ride was the Merry-Go-Round. I wasn't sure how Kaylin would react, but she absolutely LOVED it! At the end of the day we were walking near the Merry-Go-Round and Kaylin started kicking her arms and legs; I think she was a bit excited to go on it again, so we took all of the kids again!

Kaylin's other ride was the Train. She was a little cranky girl until....

Grandma took her!

Then she was all smiles and was very happy!!!

Madelyn, JD, Hiett and Emily played in the fountain near the front entrance. I think Hiett could have played in that water all day if we would have let him!

I had so much fun! Thanks to Jennie, Grandma and Poppy for watching Kaylin for me sometimes so that I could ride on a few of the rides. I think my favorite this time was the "Spider" roller coaster! Although, "Double Thunder Raceway" was great too! "Tilt-a-Whirl" is also one of my most favorites, because my mom and I know how to make them spin really fast. Madelyn went with us the first time and when we got going she lifted our hands off the metal bar and said, "too fast, too fast". I thought it was funny that she thought our hands had any control. Mom and I did have to ride again... this time without Madelyn and Emily joined us. We were all dizzy at the end and had spun one of the fastest on the ride!!! Kaylin was an angel all day, probably because we were outside ALL day. We left about 4-5 hours later than we thought we would because all of the kids were so good. We got to the park around noon and left at 9 pm!!! I'd say a pretty good LONG day with 3 children ages 3, 19 months, and 6 months!!!

Trip to the E.R.

Last night was a TERRIBLE night. At 2 am Kaylin woke up coughing so badly. At 2:30 am I gave her benedryl thinking it would clear up her nose from draining and she would then be able to sleep better. NOPE it didn't do anything! At 3 am we decided to give her a breathing treatment to see if that would help her cough...NOPE it didn't either! We tried having her sleep in her vibrating chair... It didn't do anything either! We tried having her sleep with us... It didn't work either. NOTHING worked!!! At about 445 am she started gasping before a cough, I finally said we are going, and by 5 am we were on the road to the ER! We waited at the ER forever (like you always do) and then was seen by the doctor at about 630 am (at this point, Kaylin was no longer coughing). At about 7 am we went to Radiology for chest x-rays, and at 750 am we were discharged saying that she just has a viral infection or a "cold"! I was so angry and SO tired... I had been up since 2 am, and there was NOTHING they could do for my baby! This afternoon, we have all taken naps and we will hopefully have an earlier bedtime; I just hope we don't have a repeat night of her coughing for 3 hours!!!

Day of Shopping...

Yesterday was such a great day! My sisters and I have decided that shopping with Mom and the kids is so much fun. Last month we spent the day shopping for Jennie's birthday; and yesterday we went on a shopping trip for my birthday! We start out at about noon with Lunch in the food court of whichever mall we go to, this time was Provo Towne Center! After lunch our bellies are full and we are ready to shop! We really didn't have too much in mind so we started out just window shopping. I knew that I wanted a new dress so we looked for one and Jennie wanted to look for new clothes for her kids and some new maternity pants. Other than that we didn't have a plan. Kaylin is such an angel at the mall. She ALWAYS has been. She LOVES to shop. When looking at clothes for her if you show them to her she will choose her own outfit to buy (she has done this several times). If she doesn't like the outfit then she turns her head away, if she likes it she grabs for the outfit! It's quite fun that my 6 month old loves to shop! We found some great deals. JcPenny was having a sale on kids clothes buy 1 get one for $1.00 (goes until Tuesday for anyone who needs clothing)! I got her 2 outfits for $20.00 and they are cute too!!! We all found what we wanted so we loaded up and went to University Mall!! Now it is almost 4 pm. Kaylin does not sleep in the Mall and believe it or not she is NOT cranky!!!! While at the mall, Kaylin decided that she no longer wanted her stroller (I guess she was bored) and Hiett (my nephew) didn't really want to be in his stroller, so we switched and they both were great after that! We finally got home at 7:30 pm all were totally exhausted but had so much fun! We hit both Malls, Walmart and Lowes and Kaylin survived on a 45 minute nap TOTAL all day (taken in the car between places and while the rest were in Lowes)! We can't wait to have our shopping day again this fall for Emily's birthday!!!
