Kaylin's Ears Post OP

Friday afternoon, we went in for Kaylin's Post op appointment. We walked into the small room and immediately she wanted to sit in the chair. She did pretty good there for a few minutes but was DONE with the chair by the time the doctor came in so I ended up holding her so that they could look in her ears. This time there was NO tears as he brought the tool to her ear. She just sat still on my lap and let him look. Usually it is a kicking and screaming match so I was quite suprised. We learned that her tubes are perfectly in place and that her ear drums look WONDERFUL and that the tubes can last anywhere around a year! Since Kaylin has tubes now... she can't lay down in the bathtub and can't go under water while swimming. Hopefully she'll only need the tubes for this year and then can start the swimming thing when she is 3 like all of the other kids of that age do!

Another Peek into Kaylin's nearly finished room!

Yesterday I didn't have any children to watch so during Kaylin's nap I cut out all of the squares for Kaylin's bedspread. I decided that if I made it then it would be exactly what I wanted. I borrowed a "Turning Twenty" pattern book from my mom and began working. After I got the squares cut I just couldn't wait any longer to put it together so once Kaylin went to bed last night I began sewing for 3 hours... yep I was still sewing after midnight! Then when I woke up this morning I started sewing and finished about 2:30pm; I did take a break to go to Grandma and Grandpa's and to get myself and Kaylin ready for the day. Below is a picture of the quilt top:

I LOVE how it turned out! I have a really cute back for it that I got from Ryan's mom and can't wait until we go to Oak City next so that my Mom and I can tie it!

A bunch of First's for Kaylin!

Last Friday, August 28th Kaylin had surgery to put tubes in her ears in hopes that we will not be having any more ear infections. We arrived at UVRMC (the hospital) at 6:30am and just after 7 we went back, had her stats taken and changed her into this cute little gown. Soon after we met the anestisiologist, and then Dr. Gibb came in to talk about the procedure again and ask if we had any questions. At 7:35 the surgery nurse came in and asked Kaylin if she wanted to go for a ride on the bed with her. Kaylin then left on the bed for her ride not crying at ALL! This is Kaylin before Surgery:

At 7:55 the Dr. came in and told us that she was all done and gave us the after-care instructions and said she would be in as soon as she woke up. At 8:00 my little Girl said, Momma from the hallway with 2 little tears on her cheek.

After a short cuddle from mom and dad she was ready to play with the "Elmo" toy they had there for her and then coloring was also something she wanted to do on her bed. I was prepared for a horrible tantrum but instead I got the above picture... a calm loving little girl.

After a nap, she was ready to go shopping. We went to the copy store and then to Walmart... she was in heaven, because that girl LOVES to shop!

Sunday night, Kaylin, after taking off her diaper, asked to go potty and then went! Wow she is getting big!

The other of Kaylin's firsts was her trip to the dentist today! I again was prepared for much objecting and tantrums but instead I got a cooperative little girl who let the dentist count all 16 of her teeth and the Hygenist "paint" floride on her teeth!

I can not believe that my baby is 19 months old and growing so much! She is so smart and knows exactly what she has to do to get what she wants. She is such a happy girl and LOVES to play with her toys (the cars) and her friends that come nearly every day! I can't wait to see what kind of a girl she will become but for now I'll enjoy the stage we are in right now!
