Labor and Delivery...

Friday night I spent the night in the hopsital because of Contractions, and horrible pelvic/groin pain that caused me to barely be able to walk! When arriving that the hospital they checked my cervix only to find that I was now dialated to a 3 and we needed contractions to STOP. I was given meds to help stop these (which worked... thank goodness) and was also given a steroid shot to help boost the lungs of the twins. Saturday morning the dialation of my cervix hadn't changed but Doctor Rees felt that it was best for me to stay there until I could get the second steroid shot Saturday night between 9:45 and 10pm. It was a LONG Saturday, but at 10pm I was discharged from the hospital with a prescription for medication for contractions if I should need it for them coming regular again!

I am so GLAD that these babies can stay in a little longer and that the doctors and nurses knew what they were doing and were able to get things stopped. I am really glad that I chose to go into the hospital (I was really debating about it), had I not gone in Labor could have progressed more and they would not have been able to stop it!

Now instead of counting the weeks and being grateful for those I am counting the days and considering myself blessed that I made it through one more day without having the babies too early that they would have to go to the NICU instead of home with me!

46

In case any of you are wondering what that number means thats how big my uterus is measuring at nearly 33 weeks of pregnancy!

Things are going well... LOTS of pain as it appears that I've "dropped" some since last week. At my Non-Stress Test (NST) this week we learned that the fluid around Ashlyn is getting low and Evan too (but they are more worried about Ashlyn's fluid) and now will have to go to the hospital every Tuesday and Friday until the twins are born for a NST to check fluid levels and make sure that NOTHING is wrong with the babies!

Weekly Visits...

I have now reached the time in a twins pregnancy that you meet regularly with the perinatologist for weekly Non-stress tests and in my case I get one more ultrasound at 35 weeks since Ashlyn is measuring nearly a whole pound smaller than Evan.
Today their measurements were:
Evan was 4 pounds 13 ounces
Ashlyn was 3 pounds 14 ounces
In addition to the perinatology visits I get to go to the doctor weekly too!
I am so excited that the twins are growing well but am so uncomfortable being pregnant! I have been sleeping better lately which is good, but the pains and pressures on my hips, back and pelvic area are about to drive me CRAZY! I am getting bigger and bigger by the day and am to the point that some of my (and Ryan's) t-shirts and maternity shirts are too small! I have 2 shirts to wear to the doctor and church now so my wardrobe is very limited!

Diaper Party/ Shower

Saturday afternoon was my diaper party/shower. We had a GREAT turn out... mostly of my family. All but one of my mom's sisters were there and several of my cousins came from both sides. It was great to see friends too! It was really nice to have so many people there to talk to. A rare occurrance these days! Of course I was too busy chatting to get any pictures taken, but I know Aunt Gin and Sarah have some so I'll have to get some from them!

I think we had about 25-30 people come! I received some much needed gifts: a few blankets, a lot of onesies, a couple of outfits for each of the twins, another vibrating/rocking chair, a few packages of wipes, and a LOT of diapers. Since Diapers were what we need the most of we were glad to see the piles of diaper boxes afterwards. I being a "Planner" wanted to know how many of each size so that I could keep track of what I thought we would need for the twins over the next couple of years before they get potty trained. We received sizes Preemie to 4 and I was pleasantly suprised to see that the grand total of diapers were 2012!

After this party I am beginning to feel a little more prepared for bringing home 2 babies! It's going to be tough but definately worth it! I still have a few things on my list of to do's before the twins are born, but we'll get it done, and if we don't... we will shortly after they are born!

Another Pregnancy Picture

Here's my wonderful big tummy at 28 weeks! The doctor that week measured me and I was measuring 39 weeks (If I were only having one baby)!
Since this picture I'm sure I'm bigger, but when you LIVE in your bed it's kind of hard to get a good picture and to look presentable enough for another picture. Maybe today at my Diaper shower we'll be able to get a picture of me at 30 weeks!
