She is just beginning the copying stage and will say whatever we want her to say unless she doesn't think she can and then she says NO!!! I love that she is talking so much and can't wait to hear all of the new things she will start saying!!!

Kaylin's 15 Month Appointment

Because of Kaylin's rather large head at her 12 month appointment, Dr. Johnson wanted to see her at 15 months to see how things were going. Kaylin's stats are:
Weight: 21 lbs 2 oz (25%)
Length: 31 in (75%)
Head: 48.5 cm
The weight she is still on her curve so is growing normally; her length she dropped from the 95% so he is a little concerned about her growth plates not growing properly but we are waiting to see what happens within the next few months. I personally am not too worried about her because she is still high enough on her curve that she is taller than most other girls her age. In 3 months her head only grew .5 cm; the nurse remeasured her just to make sure. Dr. Johnson seemed to be pleased that her head wasn't as far off the charts as it was at her 12 month appointment!!!
Overall, she is growing well... we still have to practice on the walking (it will come eventually) and her vocabulary is EXCELLENT for her age (30 different words) she can communicate most of her needs to us through words and signing. Her social skills are getting better. She is very friendly with adults but kids who get to close make her nervous... that will improve with me watching the few kids I have at our home!!!

Good News...

In just one week I have been FLOODED with calls from people responding to my ad on KSL and Craigslist. I can not believe that I have found 3 cute kids to watch which will bring about $75 less than the income lost which we can handle. I will be watching a little boy (2 years) Monday and Wednesdays from 8am-1pm and then I will have 2 little girls (4 years & 1 year) basically 8-5 each day but will have a short Friday 8-12!!! I am so excited to have these children in my home. I am hoping that Kaylin can handle sharing some of her toys. I will definately be putting some of the toys up in her room so that she can have some that I don't require her to share and that won't get broken by the other kids.

So cute...

Every night before we go to bed we go in and check on Kaylin to make sure that she is covered up and that her arms and legs are not stuck. I couldn't resist taking a picture of this:

She was just too cute with her legs crossed like this. I was even more grateful when she didn't wake up when the camera flashed.

Mmm Mmm Good!!!

Tonight for dinner we had Hamburgers (I LOVE them grilled outside) and French Fries. I decided that Kaylin could "try" ketchup to see what she thought. She LOVED it and kept asking for more fries so she could dip them in the ketchup.

Activity Ideas

I have been a teacher for how many years and yet I can't come up with many fun ideas for my child. I remember while working in the Toddler Classroom that they love to color... YEP Kaylin does too! I have also remembered that finger painting was something they like... Don't know if I dare try it with Kaylin... Glueing things to paper... Are you kidding me I did that with 8 Toddlers? Well I guess that it is time to branch out and let Kaylin do some of the things that the other Toddlers LOVED! I should be able to handle these types of Activites with ONE child, I hope! Today at Church a Sister told me about this site (No time for Flashcards) that has LOTS of fun activities; I had seen the "button" on Christina and Autumn's side bar but never clicked to see the fun it contained. Boy am I in LOVE with this site! See my side bar for the LINK!!! If any of you out there have any other sites you think I would enjoy send them my way!!!

Ups and Downs...

This week has had it's ups and downs. The ups were that Kaylin is getting over her cough and her burns are healing nicely. She is letting us play the walk to mommy and daddy game taking 2-3 steps each time, but she is no where near walking on her own.
The downs are that Ryan got a pay cut at work until the economy turns around. I sure hope it is soon!!! I am going to try to watch another couple of kids at our house... so if you know anyone looking... send them my way.
Yesterday morning, Kaylin decided to play acrobat and she fell out of her crib. She didn't get hurt, but the thud scared both of us pretty good! Needless to say I double checked the mattress setting on her crib and we had one more space we could go down that should buy us a little more time before we have to transition her to a bed!!!

Saturday Morning...

...The Easter Bunny brought Kaylin a movie "Over the Hedge," a new dress and hid eggs all around the family room. She had so much fun finding the eggs!
Here she is taking her egg to the basket! It was so cute because she would take them back to her basket one at a time.

It's a good thing she doesn't have other siblings because she would not have got nearly as many!!!

The Easter Bunny even hid a few eggs a little harder than most hunts are for kids her age but she did well finding them around the room hiding in, on, under or behind her toys!

This is her basket after she had found ALL 45 of the hiding eggs! Kaylin knew there were treats inside from he hunt we had at Grammy and Poppy's last week so she was quite excited to have so much all to herself
(Ryan and I will be eating some of the candy too)!!!

We hope that you all have a GREAT Easter!!!

Can this week be over yet?

This has been a LONG emotionally draining week! We have been dealing with our tenant paying LATE as well as a Cranky Kaylin! Kaylin cut another molar earlier this week and she is trying to cut another. The infection on her burned fingers is clearing up nicely; but the medicine that Dr. Johnson put her on caused her to have an Allergic reaction! Tuesday night she had a rash all over her tummy. I took her back to the Doctor on Wednesday to see if it truly was an allergic reaction to the medicine. That morning she had woke up kind of hoarse and a little croupy so while we were there I had him check her out for that as well. His verdict was...Yes she was having an allergic reaction to the medicine, her fingers were looking great, and her croupy breathing was indeed croup! So a steroid dose of medicine later we left the office and I will need to give her a second dose 24 hours later! The whole rest of the day Kaylin was SO tired and cuddly! The office says the steroid shouldn't make her tired... but for some reason she was! I think it is just that she was getting relief from not feeling well so it made her feel more comfortable to sleep! Here's hoping that the rest of our week will not be as emotionally draining as the beginning has been!

General Conference Weekend

Every year for General Conference we go to my parents house in Oak City. This year we were going to be having an Easter Egg Hunt and since Kaylin was old enough I decided to make her this basket:

I had so much fun making it but then remembered that Mom made a basket for each of her grandchildren, so I didn't need it for the Egg Hunt because we would be using Grammy's basket!

The weather was terrible so Matt and Em hid the eggs upstairs in all of the rooms except the bathrooms. This is a picture of Kaylin waiting to go on the egg hung... she really had NO idea what she was going to be doing.

We all went upstairs and Ryan and I took Kaylin around and started in Grammy's Kitchen. The first few eggs we had to point out to her but then she found this one all by herself! She was so excited to find it!!!

Kaylin saw me putting candy in a few of the eggs that we brought so she knew there were treats inside. After finding about 7 or 8 eggs she decided she was done and sat down to open up her treats!

That night while we were making the pizzas (something we always do) Kaylin tried to open the drawer under the stove and got burned pretty good on her middle and ring finger on her right hand. We tried to keep it as clean as we could and keep bandaids on but she would just take them off...

Monday morning she woke up with extremely red fingers. I took her to the Doctor and sure enough they were infected!! So now we get to have her hand covered like the above picture for a few days until the burns are nearly healed! I feel so bad for her but she is taking it pretty good and her pincer grasp is going to get stronger because she only has her Thumb, Pointer and pinky for picking up things with her right hand!!!

She Continues to Amaze me....

Kaylin has the funniest faces sometimes and it is GREAT when we catch them on camera so that we can use them later to embarrass her.

Kaylin has been busy the last few weeks learning new words and getting into as much as she can! She has been signing to us for quite a while and now she is starting to say please (of course with out the L) and More. When we take her to bed she points to and says Temple and Jesus. It is the CUTEST thing. Her vocabulary is growing so quickly and it is WONDERFUL to be able to talk with my little girl; even if it is only one word at a time. Last week, I was flipping through channels and found "Dora the Explorer" to be a show that kept Kaylin's attention for quite a while. During that first time watching when the characters encourage the viewers to say backpack she did. I thought it was just a fluke, but... she continues to say it every time we watch it now and is so proud of herself for saying it. Tonight she actually asked for the show by saying backpack, backpack as she was crawling (yes crawling not bum scooting) to the TV!

We try to encourage walking as much as possible but when we let go she immediately sits down. I know that this skill will come when she is ready. I can't believe that my baby is turning into such a cute little girl (she's always been cute)!!!
